TR2/3/3A An alternate valve adjusting sequence?

Someone suggested this in a previous discussion as a valve adjustment sequence instead of using "the rule of 9".
Set timing mark at TDC and check for closed valves. It comes in one of two sets: #'s 1 2 3 5.....and #'s 4 6 7 8
Now adjust the closed valve set.
Rotate the crank 360 degrees and adjust the new closed set.
Is this a workable method?

I like to be very sure I am at the point of fully closed so I will continue to use the old method. Either way, seems like it is twice around to do them all.

With the "rule of nine" method, you can be sure that the lifter of the valve you are adjusting is on the heel of the cam. That's because the cam lobes are precisely 180 degrees apart. Because of that, you can be pretty sloppy with the position of the crank and still get accurate results. There's a lot of room for error.

The way you are suggesting, if I follow it, is like this: At the top of the compression stroke, the intake and exhaust cam lobes are pointing downward, not straight down but plus and minus maybe 40 degrees from straight down. That should still be on the heel of the cam, but the cam doesn't have to move far before it moves away from the minimum. So, you have less room for error. But if you are careful, it should work.
