American Kestrel

My first outing with new camera. Went to Bosque Del Apache wildlife reserve yesterday. This was shot at 600mm. It was far enough away that I couldn't tell what it was until I got him and did some heavy cropping. It's an American Kestrel, aka Sparrow Hawk, though it's not really a hawk, it's a type of falcon.

It's called cheating in post recover shadows (I suspect you knew that)

Egrets are really smart birds.I used to see them all the time
alongside Highway 101.I noticed that I never saw a dead one there-
I figured they were smart in that they avoided speeding cars.

The geese! That's what I was waiting for, birds in flight. "Final Approach" looks really good (the others ain't bad either!).
