Amelia Island Concours 2016

I attended the Amelia Island Concours on March 13th. It is my second time, last year being the first. If you're anywhere near the area - not that Michigan is near, but I went anyway - I'd highly recommend attending.
I have wanted to attend since it started, and twice now my son's college spring break lined up with the event. So, we went last year and again this year. It was a great father/son time both years.

There were two 1956 Austin-Healey 100Ms in attendance on the show field. One was black/red, and the second one was black/pink. That one was the one used at the Earl's Court Motor Show in Oct 1955, and is the only one painted in that color scheme. The pink interior is still original.
I've attached photos for you to enjoy.

Just out of curiosity...is the armacord pink in that car also?

The display plaque that says this car still had a pink leather interior when Alan Alfano bought and restored it, while technically accurate, is a bit misleading. When Al bought the car from noted 100S collector Bill Wood it was red with a red interior. It was not until Al began restoring the car that he began noticing bits of pink interior under the red, including at the bottom of the seats. Further restoration found pink paint on the exterior panels, but the mystery of what the car was wasn't solved until the BMIHT certificate was received showing its Earls Court background (the certificates hadn't been introduced when Al bought the car.) Al is very meticulous and the car received a painstakingly accurate restoration that was introduced at the Sturbridge Conclave in 1991. I'm almost 100% certain the interior in the car was completely new at the time of the restoration and I have a recollection of Al trying to track down a source for pink hardura. Believe me, if this car had a pink interior from original, Bill Wood would never have sold it to Al at the price of a regular 100. There's a nicely detailed article on the car in the March 2016 issue of Classic Motorsports magazine.

I too was at the Amelia Island Concours de Elegance. My wife and I drove to Florida to take part in the Orange Blossom Tour sponsored by ClassicMotorSport magazine then at the final week-end we were at the Concours. I have pictures of the Pink Healey but none show the interior. I can't remember about the armacord. I'm pretty sure that ClassicMotorSport mag had a write up about this Healey just a few issues back but I can't find it right now. I think in the article that they said that the pink was original to the factory and that the owner had struggled in deciding to bring it back to its pink colour but then decided for originality. The interior panels are pink as well. Also there was a very nice (of course) Nash Healey there. I highly recommend the Orange Blossom Tour done by Marge & Tim Suddard, publishers. The venues we went to and the dinning and foods we received were exquisite. boat rides to chase dolphins and quaint towns for shopping, it was terrific. And a large variety of curvey and straight roads. See pics:

For some reason the pics didn't follow.
