Hi Guys,
I changed the oil in the healey last night and what a difference. That was the first time I ever used 20-50w oil.At cold fast idle I have 80 psi of oil pressure. After running the engine for 30 minutes, the oil pressure at idle {800 rpms } is about 40psi.This is great! Thanks to all for the good advice,

Hi Guys,
I only changed the oil one time before this. I don't put many miles on her but in the different posts that I have had with you I thought it would be good to try. I used straight 30w oil and a fram filter. I,m not sure what made the difference, but the results are amazing. For now on, it gets nothing but 20-50woil and a felt filter. Thanks guys, for your help.

Hi Bobby, You should plan on at least one oil change a year iregardles of the mileage driven.---Keoke

Hi Bobby,

Glad it worked for you.
80 cold and 40 at 800 rpm may indicate that your pressure spring is a little too stiff. If you put a washer in there while trouble shooting your oil pressure, you may want to take it back out. You should shoot for 60 cold and 20 at fast idle.
Are you using Castrol Syntec ?

Hi Guys,
So far,So good !! I'm using 20-50w quaker state.Ran her for about an hour today and she's doing great.I'm not sure if I should go to synthetic.Hey Ed,aren't you using synthetic? If so, what do you think? The last oil I drained the other night, was still pretty clear, so I think I'm going to run this for a couple weeks and dump it one more time before my summer drives.Tonight, I'm dumping the transmission oil and refilling that.anyway,I hope you guys are having good times with your healeys too.

Hey Keoke, I agree with you on the oil change intervals. Thanks

OK Then listen up Quaker State was bought by shell some time ago. Next time you change oil I suggest you use Castol GTX 20/50 as a minimum.---Keoke-- :cowboy:

I am using Castrol Syntec 20w-50 as it has the necessary anti wear additives for classic cars. I liked it so well that it convinced me to start using synthetic in my daily drivers.
I was using 20w-50 GTX before switching to Syntec in my Healey.
I noticed that the oil pressure doesn't seem to drop as much after the engine gets hot as compared to GTX.
I am certain others opinions will vary.

Hi Ed,
I am not sure what changed, but the oil pressure in this engine hasn't been below 40 psi since I changed it out. I'm going to switch out to castrol next weekend and after that I have to switch out a leaking pinion seal. I also found a guy in Mass. that rebuilds girling brake boosters, so I think I might ship that to him and get that done. The old girl is starting to really come together.Keoke also said to change to castrol so I'll get that out of the way quick. As always,Thanks for your help.
