Two things conspired to cause me to buy a new portable speaker system. First, the Altec-Lansing iPhone dock I was using at work ceased operations. I like to listen to music while slaving away at work, so I needed a replacement. Second, I received a "Costco Gift Card" for a pretty decent sum as appreciation for some work I had done on a project. So, off I went to Costco. I had done some research of options and Costco happened to have one of the options I was considering that seems to have pretty good ratings everywhere I looked -
the "Big Jambox" by Jawbone.
So I bought this thing at tried it out! Wow! For something that's only about 10" by 3" square, this thing puts out some amazing room-filling sound! You can hook it to the computer and keep the software updated via USB. It will operate for up to 15 hours on a single charge of batteries (or, like I'm doing now, just plug in into an outlet with the included charger). The bass is "just right" (for me, but I don't like overwhelming, teeth-rattling base like some people do) and the mids and highs are superb. You can connect to device or computer with cord or via Bluetooth. Listening to Moody Blues right now and it really sounds like a high-end system! My Klipsch M-40 Headphones are a little better, but only slightly.
If you are in the market for a good speaker system for your smart phone, computer, etc., I would definitely recommend this thing. (That also sell a smaller JamBox but, while it sounded good for its size, it didn't sound as full and rich as the "Big" Jambox.
