I have always liked that song, and am not a particularly religious person. I guess I relate to the part where I refer to myself as a wretch.
I gave the link to my wife and she has passed it on. She <span style="text-decoration: underline">is</span> religious. And does call me a wretch, too.

So, now I've listened to them sing in English, French, Italian & Spanish...with Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand & Toni Braxton...plus all their solo performances....gotta get to another site.....but I can't!

Enchanting. I'm not an Opera Fan, but that was a stunning performance. especially with the coliseum at sunset. that was the finishing touch.
That is my all time favorite song. It's the first one I learned to play on guitar, and I still love it. It sounds good played by orchestras, choirs, barbershop quartets, folk bands, folks around a campfire, anyone. And I'm open to lots of renditions, but often I find that the simpler ones are better. That one was majestic. simple, yet elegant.
