Am I out of my mind???

Heh heh heh...

Very good one Rich, I'm not thinking of many 'convenient' features at the moment.

But there's a reason we don't have hand cranks on the front of our cars any more, maybe we are just a bunch of lazy sots who can't be bothered to start up our cars manually but I think having 'effective' windshield wipers and a 'working' heater on cold mornings and radial tyres and halogen headlights and disc brakes are all improvements I can personally live with...

Unless I get a really early car someday!!

Well, I am right in between Olympia and Snohomish, Des Moines area...anyone want to do an improptu tech session? I will do coffee and could even be convinced to cook some breakfast of some sort or doughnuts if you are uncertain of my kitchen skills. Bill L, you could join in even without your Sprite.

That also sounds fun. I'm game for a cruise and/or a tech session.

--yep- I could have but mine had more windshield and fewer wheels (even if it is only about 2 miles from where I got mine!)

Jeanne, what time should we show up at your place on Saturday morning?
Talked with Bill tonight and the plan will be to meet at Fry's in Renton, just off of 405 at 10AM. BWM1974, you are welcome to meet at my house at 9:15 or so if you need directions.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Well- here is what a 1500 engine looks like with a flywheel that had all 4 of the bolts and the drive pin shear off!
From the tightness of the engine-to-tranny bolts and the pressure plate bolts it seems like the last mechanic wanted to make SURE that nothing backed-off but he didn't use any lock washers, locktabs nor locktite so he just reefed really hard on the bolts. I will have to hand it to him- nothing backed off, they just broke off!

Truly remarkable, Bill! Not everyone has the opportunity to appreciate workmanship like that. Thank goodness!

Well- seeing as there is virtually nothing left on the car right now I think that it will continue on its journey to oblivion- there is a guy in the local MG club who may have use for the tub but if not it may go the way of the whale!
This is just another way of saying that it is giving up its life that far more may live! (is that sick or what?)

Not in the least:

"That is wise. Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." "Or the one."
