Besides, she had (and gave me) a current copy of the registration which has her name on it and shows that she has owned it at that address for the past 6 years (a little paperwork sure does backup the hope that it is OK!!) and a handwritten bill of sale (which is the most important piece of paper in this state).

But the price on this one makes SENSE - it comes with a "mecanic"!

British Leyland MG MIDGET 1976, engine new 1500 cc, 4 speed manual + one electric overdrive (Spitfire) - <span style="font-weight: bold">mecanic</span>, transmission A+, including boots cover.
 
It isn't a driver yet but it does now run pretty well. I replaced the original electronic ignition and coil with a common Spridget distributor (don't even know the number, just one that waas sitting around) and 3.2 ohm coil (also just sitting around).
I am still running the Stromberg but am working on an SU HS4.
You know Ed I really think that I should have bought that 30k Spridget but the thought of having to ship it from Quebec was just too much!! :smile:

(also jealous I missed out on the good deal. I couldn't get a trailer soon enough)

True, but call me crazy, I think it would be best to actually fix the problem. Haven't whacked the starter with a hammer yet, but that is on my list to do.
 
Just make sure it's a BFH!!

You could call for a short N.O.S.H.I.T. meeting at your place and the horde would pour in to get it done.. Then go for the drive...

Mine is still at Paul A.s or I would be wanting to join in

Getting back to the original thread---
I actually had to BUY a part for the '76 Midget, the alternator was shot.
Local O'Reilly had one on the shelf for $62.99. On the way there I saw the following, I guess that even here in the Seattle area folks can still say "Hey Y'all, watch this!!!"

But the difference is, a ~REEL~ rednek wudda maid it threw !!!!

My redneck buddy has lockers front and rear, he does stuff like that all the time.
 
Well, I am right in between Olympia and Snohomish, Des Moines area...anyone want to do an improptu tech session? I will do coffee and could even be convinced to cook some breakfast of some sort or doughnuts if you are uncertain of my kitchen skills. Bill L, you could join in even without your Sprite.
 
Starter, who needs a starter?

The starter on my old Jeep Cherokee started going out on me right before a trip to Wyoming. We of course headed out anyway. It was hit and miss all the way there. We just made sure to park where we could give it a push to get it going.

When we got back I pulled it out and took it in to a friends shop to have it rebuilt. Well the weather was good and we wanted to go camping so we loaded up the gear and headed to Eastern Washington, without the starter. The only thing I wouldn’t do is go fossil hunting off road like my son wanted too. Didn’t trust not having it die in a place we couldn't push it out of. The Jeep was a little picky sometimes and my wife couldn’t get it started with me and Adam pushing, so most of the time it was Susan and Adam pushing and me in the drivers seat. We did need some help pushing it on the uneven gravel of the campground. The men standing around the campground kept asking if we needed a jump start. They couldn't understand that we didn't have a starter. I finally got them to understand. They gave us a push and we drove off with them all talking about the crazy family that didn't have a starter.

So you see, you don't NEED a starter
