TR2/3/3A Aluminum windshield frames.

I need to clean and polish my aluminum windshield frame. Any suggestions what to use. If the frame is anodized should I and or can I get it redone? Does anyone know the story why a few cars had these aluminum windshield frames? Thanks and have a good day!

John

The aluminum frames were an extra-cost option, I believe. Primarily a racing thing as I see it, they only saved a few pounds of weight and so weren't very popular. From what I've heard, they also aren't as strong as the brass ones (so be careful not to lean on the windshield, especially when getting in or out of the car).

I don't believe they were anodized originally, though of course someone may have had yours anodized. If you just need to shine it up, then any "aluminum polish" should work, like Simichrome or Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish.
