Posting in line pic
This is what works for me using Netscape 7 browser:
1- Make post
2- Click "Continue"
3- Scroll down to "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file" & check the box
4- Click "continue"
5- Scroll down to "You may attach a file if you like (no bigger than 200000 bytes please)." & click on browse
6- select desired jpg image from hard disc. In this case it was 06/07/02 3.jpg
7- Click "open"
8- The HD location will show in the "Attach file" window. In this case it was "Macintosh HD:06/07/02 3.jpg"
9- Click OK, Submit
10- the new post should show up with "Attachment" at the top. Clicking on "attachment" will show the pic.

To show the pic in line;
1- Click & hold on on "Attachment"
2- Select "Open link in new window"
3- Click & hold on image (the pic)
4- Click on "properties"
5- Copy location - in this case, "https://www.britishcarforum.com/ubbthreads/memberfiles/191984-023.jpg"
6- Click on "Edit post"
Add -
191984-023.jpg

to post.
7- Click "Change this post"
8- Image should now show in preview
9- Click continue
10- Post now has inline pic

Thanks Dave

I tried yet again and it was bounced back saying my file size was to large! My next step will be to find out how to reduce the file size in my Nikon View program. That should be about as much fun as trying to post a picture!

I use a simple "Adobe PhotoDeluxe" program to resize pics. I think it is available for free download on the net. Usually, opening the pic while in "PD" will allow you to resize the pic & or change it's resolution to 72 DPI which will drastically reduce the bits/bytes.

Many cameras can be set to jpeg mode (72dpi) before shooting. Then you usually don't have to resize the pics.

Here's my attempt.

These are all relatively small files ~ 20KB so there should be no problem on that account.

Second Picture

Third Picture

Fourth Picture

Fifth Picture
[image]https://www.healeyjournal.com/dwhead/dsc0185[/image]
Sixth Picture
[image]https://www.healeyjournal.com/dwhead/dsc0193[/image]

Hope these work OK.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif I'm not sure why my attempt to insert the images fails, but the links work alright and Money Pit's pictures may be accessed using them.

What a palaver!

Hi James,
When I click on your links (Sixth Picture) this is what I get. Can't make a pic out of it.

ÿØÿà .......& on & on for pages

Any idea why?
D

Hi Dave,
When I clicked on the sixth image, the same photo that James put as an attachment comes up. Which I think is correct since the photo name is the same.

Sorry Dave,
I don’t have an answer for you. I know that a friend of mine was having problems with Internet Explorer on the new Mac OS. She had to switch to Safari. The problem supposedly was with Java scripts. That last attachment you made is what a photo file viewed in a text editor looks like. I think something is going on with this website. Some photos I’ve seen have been renamed with ā€œ%ā€ signs. Strange.

Regarding alum. vs. steel heads, isn't there a bigger market for aftermarket heads for the 100's just because the originals crack much more often? Seems like the 6 cylinder heads are pretty robust in comparison.

Cheers,
John

I thought it was because the guys that have the 4 cyl. cars have a lot more money than us guys with the 6's.. Bob /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif

OK - The pics work in "Internet Explorer 5". They don't work in "Netscape 7.1". This is the first time I've run into this situation. Since I usually use Netscape, I'm not going to change just to see some pics. Seems like the stuff should work in both browsers. It usually does. Still like to know why though.

NO idea. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've no idea why I wasn't able to just insert the files in my posting, either- the UBB code looks right, and its exactly what I've done several times before without difficulty.

As ahs been said, maybe its a browser problem... if so its well beyond my limited capabilities.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Had a similar prob with a printer at the office, would print greek like you show dave russell, turns out we were using adobe 7 and machine did not have a driver to accept, went back to adobe 6 and all printed ok

I suspect it's a java compatibilty problem. I use Mozilla browser and have the same problem. I used IE and it displayed correct. If you have IE it is probably defaulted to use microsoft virtual runtime. Netscape, Mozilla, most others are designed to use Sun java. The industry appears to be moving to sun java and a lot of old stuff has to be rewritten to avoid problems.. Or just try using IE or changing your default system settings and let the geeks worry about fixing it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
