Anyone know of a good (easy) aluminum cleaner that would be good for cleaning the outside of a couple of weber carbs? They work good but look bad and I need to clean them up a little.

I use Pattex Nural 5000 carb cleaner doesn't shine them but brings them back to dull original finish,on the more stubborn parts use a hard bristled toothbrush. Not sure under what name it would be marketed over there.looking around -Chemtool B12 seems the same sort of product, says it's available from walmart

Here's a cheap Aluminum cleaner that might work (result of Google search.) I'd have to ask the wife what soap flakes are.

This baking soda recipe will make your own aluminum cleaning paste that will remove tarnish and greasy film from cookware and other aluminum surfaces.
To make 8oz of this paste cleaner
• 8 tablespoons cream of tartar
• 8 tablespoons (baking soda) bicarbonate of soda
• 4fl oz white vinegar
• 4 tablespoons soap flakes
Mix the cream of tartar and baking soda in a medium-size bowl. Pour in the vinegar and mix until it all forms a soft paste. Add the soap flakes. When finished place it all into a jar or bottle with a secure lid and label it clearly.
To use, apply with a steel wool pad, then rinse off with warm water. Store out of the reach of children. It should keep for 1-2 years.

soap flakes is just dry granular laundry detergent. Do they even still make that?

What I did to clean up the aluminum Armstrong shocks on my B was to use a soft wire bristle wheel on my variable speed drill to get the surface corrosion off then a little bit of chrome polish to clean the surface a bit more. Came out nice.

Autosol for cleaning aluminum back to a polished shine...!
