Since I have no idea what is fits, I figured I'd hit this forum.
After probably 30 years, mine quit this morning. I have it out, and there are no part numbers I can find so far, but this is it:

So, before I go searching too far for a replacement Lucas, what is the Bosch number you all use for replacement?
Two flat spade slip-on connectors used on the back (three present).

Last mounted on a 1964 Jag MK2.

That looks like the common one on any Midget/MGB. It is the one that I have on mine.

NOBODY has either a Lucas or a Bosch. Bosch is an AL298X or an AL300X. Off looking now.

X2. Looks like the one on the Midget. Got mine from Pep Boys. They no longer stock it but supposedly can special order.

Lucas....maybe three days out of California, maybe a week out of Atlanta....so...checked it out, drove an hour and a half total, spent twenty bucks even, new rectifier and regulator. Tonight I fix it.

Back together and hung in place. Tighten and test after dinner. Funny, the new regulator is different than the old. Old one had 2 wires, jumpered across the brushes. New one has two different coloured wires, no instructions, not "intuitive". Even the supplier/rebuilder wasn't sure. Did some on-line looking, called him back, seems the new ones are supposed to have a ground strap from the isolated case of the regulator to one brush, yellow wire to the other (and to rectifier, and to indicator lamp), the other wire (black) goes to case ground, which the old one did not. Odd.

Been working just fine. Driving it every day. Ammeter works differently.....the charge rate is higher (substantially) after you start it, then stays pretty close to the bar in the middle. Out of 9 diodes, three were toast. Very odd about the lack of instructions anywhere on wiring in the upgraded regulator. They said mine (which worked) was original equipment...so I saved it in a zip-lock with wiring diagram.
My next move is to upgrade to probably a Bosch, once I find out what folks use to replace a Lucas, and save this one in the "ready spares" box....along with the spare starter, MB Pontoon carbs, SU Fuel Pump, you know, the things you can't just buy when you need them!

Take it to a electric motor repair shop. Most all do starters, generators ans alternators. That's what I did on the B and 60 bucks later, it works like new. PJ

Dave, it's the Fiesta alt with all the bells and whistles.
Kind of looks like the Saturn one for the Wedge will fit too.

Yeah, well, our local alternator/starter/generator repair shop closed up 8 years ago. Now you ship it off and wait two weeks. That said, I got the parts for twenty bucks and fixed it.

There is still a very good one up on 99 just past the speedway

The one I had was in Bellevue. I know how to rebuild them, just the bits and some machining can be an issue. I was glad to have been able to find the parts when I did, but I am beginning to think it might behoove me to get something with parts a tad more available, especially if I get out in the middle of Timbuktu.
