My alternator (Ford 3G) negative ground is wired through the control box as shown in the bottom diagram and the contact point insulated:
Problem is with the charging indicator wires connected to the "D" terminal, the charging light remains on. If I remove them from the terminal and connect them to each other, the charging light comes on with the ignition and goes out when the motor starts. Will there be any impact on the alternator function if I just leave them off the D terminal and connect them directly?
