Alternator conversion and tach

Country flag
Offline
Next weeks project is removing the generator and installing an alternator in my 100-6 bn4. What must I do to convert my tach? I’m negative ground, Pertronix ignition.
thanks,
larry (who apparently is asking a lot of questions lately after being somewhat dormant for a couple of years😳.

Thanks Dave, you’re right, mechanical tach. Sometimes I overthink things.
Larry

Be sure to reverse the tach cable for negative ground.
Cute!

Hey Larry, have you considered conversion to Dynamator? It looks like a C45 type generator but with alternator (Bosche?) internals but not much installation modification. Mine provides constant 14.5V charging at around 1000 RPMs and 45 amps. They're perfect for more than basic Healey applications GONZO.

Actually I did. But I’d already bought the alternator when I found out about it. It is a great product, but I’m good with what I’ve got. Thanks

Bob, I thought I just turned the tach upside down?
