Wedge Altenative TR7 Spider Interior

My Spider has the original seat fabric and it is on the ratty side. I cannot find a replacement - I doubt they exist. I can't find a loom to do a short run to duplicate the pattern and I can't find a seamstress that can duplicate the pattern and keep the seat comfortable with all that stitching.

So what about this?

Hope that was photoshopped...just kidding. To each his own, but I would probably try to make the seats at least something in the gray spectrum.

PS. There may soon be a source for Spider seat material. The same guys in Detroit that duplicated the decals are working on material for the seats.

The bit of purist in me says...well, ok. it's your car. The "car guy" in me says WOW, WAY COOL!

I confess that I've always had a thing for black Triumph convertibles with red interiors. Besides, if the choices are this or the 2006 equivalent to Rayco plastic seat covers...or simply dumping the car because you're fed up, well...guess which choice wins?

At any rate, you're doing no "harm" that can't be undone in the future! Until then, I think it would work! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif But you do need to get rid of those 8RT floor mats. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you can find the material you could always try an original Triumph version of your idea.

And you can give me the 8RT floormats if you want. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I would leave the steering wheel black. If you could get the seats recovered in red leather that would be hot.

a little bright for me but I like it.

I just recently found out that Issac Watts, the gent that wrote Joy to the World, is a relative of mine. As he was Scottish, I was thinking of trying to replicate his clans tartan in my TR8. I have to find that Tartan though. Sort of interesting genealogical find.

Funny, but the most unique part of the Spider is it's interior, and possibly the most disired part Wedgies want for their cars ...I know mine would look sweet with the black/grey inserts !!!

So on that note, it would almost be a sacrilege to modify your interior , but without proper replacements ...like you mentioned ...what other choice is there eh ??

I think the red seats and door card inserts work really well in the car, I could live with the steering wheel and shifter boot, but I'm less excited about the knee pads and console lid. If you've ever seen a 05-06 Mustang with the black and red interior trim, you should have a pretty good idea of what your car would look like in real world ....

The only bad thing I could think is (speaking from experience in once owning a car with a red int) is that depending on the hue, sometimes too much red can play havoc on your mood, on some of those rough mornings /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Btw , that being said, I voted "amazing, I want that"
