This is before my time, but I love the early years rallying. No helmets, shorts, casual wear and even ear rings (Ann Wisdom & Pat Moss) I would love to have participated in these events. This film has some great period Healey shots of the big names in that piloted the marque to the podium.

What a great film! Thanks for posting, Dougie. Can you imagine climbing the Stelvio while regular traffic is on the road? And those drop-offs barely protected by any guardrails must have been a thrill. One of my duties in my college sports car club was to secure these promo films for showing at our meetings. I'd send away to the companies, BMC, Triumph, Shell, Amoco etc and request their list of films for distribution, check off the ones I wanted and wait for them to be delivered on those big film reels. YouTube sure makes it a lot easier.

Comentary was by Raymond Baxter. Spitfire pilot and BBC icon. He's also one of the competitors, seen taking a drink direct from the hip flask early on in the film. I'm not sure that sort of refreshment would be encouraged in todays competitions!
