In the MG, waiting to turn in my road; two full size trucks pulling big trailers coming the other way so I have to come to a complete stop and wait for them to pass. Late model Land Cruiser or whatever they call them now coming up behind me at a high rate of speed, not slowing down and wouldn't have enough time/space to stop before it hits me. I dive onto the steep shoulder of the road right as the truck passes me at about 50 mph. What sucks is I was thinking earlier on the way home that I'm now finally comfortable driving it again. I think it's time for me to move on.

Too many idiots around here.
 
Billy, there's one of them born every minute!!. Just remember you can only drive your vehicle so that you avoid "idiots" as much as you can.

Also being a motorcycle rider (Don't currently have a bike) I am in the habit of leaving an escape route when I'm in situations like that. Sounds like you are too. It's probably saved me a few times. I know it's not much, but have you considered upgrading the lights on the MG to stronger LEDs, and possibly adding a CHMSL? That's the "Center High Mounted Stop Lamp" for those who haven't heard that before.
All that said, My classic is a big Screaming orange VW bus, and I still get cut off...... "What? you didn't see it?!!"
 
I have thought about that but I think it's time for us to move on as much as I hate that. All this of course would have gone down almost in my front yard with my wife due home in 30 minutes...

I just live in the wrong area for one of these.
 
On my first driving lesson, my dad told me that when you leave the house, remember:

1. Most other drivers are completely nuts, and
2. The rest are drunk.

And that has served me very well.

And unfortunately as they install more and more interconnecting technology in cars it'll only get worse. I've never understood the need for things that can serve as distractions mounted in the dash and steering wheel and so on. Web access?? Why?? At the least, not when moving!
 
Billy......on an LBC, it is customary when adding graphics to your vehicle to use oh, a full-sized union jack across the boot or hood., Possibly bonnet.
I would suggest you remove the bullseye target graphic and install a union jack.

Sure feels like it. We had a club member here with a '71 that was in an accident during cruising the coast a few years ago and his passenger was killed. He was going down hwy 90 along the beach and someone turned in front of him.

I'm not against these things now, just for me here as a DD or even occasionally it just doesn't seem to be a good idea. I don't have a peace about it anymore. What's the use if I can no longer enjoy it?!
 
On thy way home from BR it appears a guy got killed right behind me on a motorcycle. Similar situation as mentioned above; traffic came to a sudden stop and he didn't and wound up crossing the median and the bike wound up tank-side into the guard cable system. I don't know if someone hit him and drove him out there or he just swerved because he couldn't stop and low-sided into the cable. This happened about two car lengths behind me.

Judging by the reaction of those who approached to help he was in really really bad shape.
 
If you are not comfortable driving the MG, you should move on. How about a Jaguar Saloon? Drop a SBC in it and have fun.
 
I've owned two Jags and my happiest experiences with them was the day I bought and the day I sold them.
