I would describe driving Bugsy today as almost orgasmic. Got to watch my 11 and 9 y.o. Grandsons play Flag Football today and 4 y.o. grandaughter root for her Big Brothers on the sidelines . A frosty morning at 43 degrees side curtains installed and tonneau on to start the morning. A few minutes and heater pumping out warmth. I took the back roads South about 15 miles, coffee keeping me warm inside as I drove. One Tie Game and my Grandson just missed catching what would have been a game winning touch down in Game 2 as the clock expired. Oh well, the treat was having him ride back home alongside me, and turning off to take some back roads home. He was chuffed with arms above the windshield just reveling in the sunshine and the smell of oil, gasoline, and exhaust as we blasted along the backroads and even got lost for a few minutes.
Said my goodbyes for my Son and his family, removed the side curtains, and turned right from his street to take the long way home along some very twisty, turny, 10, 15, 20 mph narrow farm lanes in Greene County in SW Ohio. Temps now up to 60 degrees or so, bright sunny day and absolutely perfect LBC Weather on these back roads. Honest officer I wasn't trying to do 25 around that 10 mph turn, well actually I was. I even took as few extra turns to make it an even longer way home. And I just may need to go out and do it again.
Drive shaft replacement this week fixed the strange vibration and noise coming from the drivetrain, and instead I could marvel at the sound of Bugsy, at full throated roar exiting through the Harley muffler behind me. Switching gears, dropping into 2nd and 3rd as I pressed as hard as possible on these fabulous backroads and Bugsy responded perfectly. All I can wish for is getting that new engine with 40% more cc's and an extra 20-25 hp and the 5 speed, installed under the bonnet over this Winter, and what a perfect end for the last day of September.
Back in the garage, refilled 1/2 pint of oil that I leaked while thrashing and that antifreeze smell, not a leak but I little bit of burping after some hard exercise. I'm telling you, almost orgasmic it was so good. 3:20 PM time to go and do it again. It was THAT Good!!!
