Alloy Valve Cover Oil Baffel

A friend of mine welded it, mig or tig I cant remember which, and no problems with the finish, you cant tell from the outside.-----After rechecking my cover the plate I used was 1 1/2" and I left the ends open 1/2", I angled the baffle out to where it rested against the large round casting supports for the mounting bolt holes. Allan,
That's fantastic, and it's what I will do. But I still don't have the exact configuration. But before we go on, do you happen to know if your arrangement will work with the stock rocker assembly?

So your baffle uses a 1 1/2" wide aluminum strip, the length of the valve cover (except for 1/2" on either end)1/8" thick. Right? Did you say there is a bend along the length of the strip, or is it just angled out slightly from the wall of the valve cover to allow the gases to pass? Is there a bead of welding the entire length (top and bottom?) or just a few tacks? Are there any kind of holes drilled in the bottom of the strip to allow the oil to drain, or does it just weep out of the ends?

Thanks for the help. It may take me a few weeks, but I'll share the outcome with everyone.

I dont know about the stock rockers, just a guess I would say there would be more room for them.---There is no bend just a straight piece and it is welded all the way, top and bottom.--There are no holes, any oil that collects will just drain back out from the ends of the v grove formed by the angle of the baffle.

Thanks very much Allan - that's all I need. I'll do some measuring of the stock rocker heights, etc., just to make sure. Clearly this could be executed in a number of ways, but I like the fact your baffle is so much wider than even the stock version, thus ensuring extra time for the oil to collect, and drain. This I feel is important, as you mentioned, when using the external oil feed.

Thanks again.

How about plumbing it right back thru the external oil feed.
Uhm maybe because the external oil feed is at 60psi? those drips of oil from the separator wont exactly join the flow!

I'm not talking about actually doing something, I'm saying it's a place to put the oil.
It was in jest anyway.
