Ian - I think that the battery on e-bay had not yet been filled with acid as it was marked "Dry Charged". The buyer will have to go to a local auto supplier to buy some battery acid and have it filled. It should last him at least 5 years. But only if he uses it. Many batteries die before 5 or 6 years because they sit for months or over the winter without any trickle charging. I drive my TR3A many miles from April to the end of October and then I charge it about 2 amps for a few days every month during the winter.
Maybe the "winner" of this ebay battery will leave it dry and he'll trailer his car to car shows.
The batteries you get from the Antique Battery Co. are brand new. They use new interior parts in the cells and these are assembled into look-alike Lucas battery cases molded under licence from Lucas and are molded with modern plastics. The first one I bought had a real tar top and it got sticky and dirty with sand, dust, bumblebees etc. Now they use a black poly-something that looks like a tar top battery but it's easy to clean.
