Here's one for Doc Entropy. Son's 92 Alfa Spider has been running rough of late. Son called Luciano of Veloce Motors in Miami to make an appointment to bring car in. Luciano said why bring in car & pay $200.00 - he'll try to diagnose it over the phone. He told Dan to remove a small panel behind the seats, leave the ignition on and press a red button. He did so and the check engine light came on and blinked 4 times. Luciano told him to repeat the test and this time it blinked 3 times. Luciano told Dan to check the air inlet hose. When he did, he discovered a loose clamp and a torn hose. He tightened the clamp and voila - problem solved. Luciano told him to use some duct tape on the hose or order a new one for $88.00. He ordered the new hose this afternoon. How's that for an honest mechanic? I wish our cars were as easy to diagnose.
