Started the TR6 today and moved it out of the lower garage so I could get the John Deere out to mow the lawn. It started immediately and warmed right up. After cutting the grass, I went to start the Alfa. A few groans and...dead. I put the charger on it and as soon as it got back to 12 volts, I started the car and checked the alternator. It seemed fine. The only thing running all the time is a clock. A PO had prophetically fitted a quick disconnect and I plan to use it. The battery is in the trunk so it will be hard to do tests between the battery and the alternator. While the battery was charging, I refilled the windshield washer reservoir. It seemed to be taking a lot of fluid and sure enough, a huge puddle was forming on the floor. Going online, I discovered both of these things are common Alfa problems. In vain I looked for a radiator cap. Back online, I discovered there is none. You fill the radiator through a big, black plastic cap on the overflow tank. Draining the rad calls for removing the lower hose. The distributor and alternator are buried in the engine compartment. I'll never complain about the TR6 again...
