Alfa brakes broke...

Heheee... Miller beer truck has just "derailed" on I-4 and there's a 13 mile backup... Wonder how many folks are standin' about drinkin' th' "goods" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Herself brought me a ~case~ of CAB last evening, now am about to bludgeon the pistons out and spread the contents of the shed across the back yard to find the "other" calipers. If I can't find 'em I'll start looking for the bottom of that case... one can at a time!

She's a *good* mommy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Alfa brakes broke... *UPDATE*

Found the "spare" calipers... didn't rebuild THEM either, but the good news is they didn't fall on my foot! Cleverly disguised themselves as a box of 1750 parts onna garage floor RIGHT BESIDE the washing machine... who'd ever look THERE for 'em?!?! --only out of desperation.

Re: Alfa brakes broke... *UPDATE*

hehehehehehe. Glad you found 'em!

Re: Alfa brakes broke... *UPDATE*

sooooo... are they unbroke yet?

Stops well... well, it stops. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Got to a point where the day was ending before the job was. Found the flex line was blocked completely, that got changed out first. Then used the hydraulic pressure (and SWMBO's right foot) to coax the pucks from the fried one -- 100 p.s.i. air only moved the outer one! -- replaced it with the "found" caliper, reassembled and bled that corner. Bit "spongey" so there's air somewhere in there yet, will do the other side and the rears after the Easter thingie.

At least it's a car again now instead of Italian Yard Art. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Re: Alfa brakes broke... *UPDATE*

Mine's still yard art. You brake problem sounds like my MGB... The flexline was actually cloged so bad, there was rubber coming through the hole in the fittings. And somehow I have air in the line too. I'll fix it after I get the toyota going. Still waiting on my gasket set to be delivered.

And we are driving it for how long this time with a problem?

Jeff (Just trying to be helpful.)

Re: Alfa brakes broke... *UPDATE*

I drove my MGB with nearly NO brakes for about 3-4 months... Spongy is way better! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Re: Alfa brakes broke... *UPDATE*

'k Jeff, I hear ya. It was cobbed together so's it wouldn't be "hobbled" in the driveway while we're in Miami for Easter. Plans have been changed, trip diverted: Herself has been awarded a viral infection to incubate, upper resp and a ~nasty~ li'l bug, apparently. No sense in risking contageon on a "family-wide" basis and the subsequent longer recovery time a stressful trip would cause her. I'll get right on them brakes... soon's I get done making apologetic phone calls /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Alfa brakes broke... *UPDATE*

hmmm. The E-brake DOES work pretty well, Kenny... You may have hit on something there. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

EDIT: Have you got a photo of your instrument panel and dash Kenny?
