ALERT ! Healeys Return to Bonneville Speed Runs

What can I add that hasn't already been said??....the Healey Team made possible a once in a lifetime experience. My son, Greg, and I loved every minute. We truly felt sorry for their problems (rain delays, blower issues, etc) but hope that those issues didn't take away from the overall experience for them. Everything was fun......parking lot gathering and airport runway runs on Wednesday, group dinner Wed. evening, salt experience, speed runs, pictures by (and in) the cars, talking with all of you.....just fantastic!! I must also tell you that EVERYONE was impressed with how approachable and gracious Bruno Verstrate and Steve Pike were (and the whole Healey Team)... these gentlmen were amazing ambassadors for Donald Healey, and the Healey community ....not just in what they accomplished for the hobby, but the wonderful people they are to represent the Healey community in such a magnificent manner.

Memorable on a grand scale.

Congratulations to Steve, Bruno and the rest of the Healey helpers for seeing the project through. Great achievement just to get both cars to Bonneville and run them. Just shows what can be done when you want to. I didn't get to see them but I'm glad some people did and that they had a good time.

Regards,

bundyrum.

I have to agree with Steve. Being a member of the Bonneville AHC, I had the priveledge of housing the Australia group for three days at my home in Kaysville, Utah. Between September 12 and September 14 we spent about 35 hours in my shop tuning and getting the last few items done on the two cars. Many people stopped by and Steve answered all their questions amid all the work that needed to be done. It was truly a memorable experience. Needless to say we got a FEW pictures of the cars in my shop! We are now planning a trip to Australia! Have a good day!

At last night's meeting of the Austin-Healey Owners' Club of Queensland, Joe Jarick, who is a key member of the Healeys Return to Bonneville team, gave a talk about his experiences "on the salt". Joe's talk was fascinating to listen to and gave us "mere mortals" some insight of the project.
I hope the event will be covered in detail on this site and in the motoring press!
