Some friends are up in Alaska, and sent these photos taken last night. What a great display!

I've only seen the Aurora once in my life and that was in Great Falls Montana. I was stationed at Malmstrom AFB (NORAD) for several years and saw a similar spectacular display as I was driving home from a swing shift one night around midnight. The next day I was talking to a colonel at work who had been stationed in Alaska. He said that the previous night's northern lights were better than anything he'd seen in Alaska.

PS: Those images are spectacular - that's very much how I remember that night in Great Falls.

I saw the Northern Lights only twice, and both were in 2024. The first was in late September in Reykholt, Iceland.

The second was in early October, back home in Pennsylvania where they were brighter, but brief, and less defined.
