Alabamian back in LBCs after a long dalliance with replicas

Hello all,
I am returning to my first love, Little British Cars, after a long break spent building Lotus 7 replicas (three!) My first restoration, an MG TD, helped me survive a stint in the Air Force, then was followed by the next restoration, an MGA, quickly followed by an MGB GT. Then I grew tired of spending money keeping them original, and went over to the dark side and started building Lotus 7 replicas. I built my first one using pictures from a book, then the Internet happened and plans became available. If one particular part did not prove reliable, I just substituted another (think GM 3-wire alternators) After I finished my last one, I turned to my first love, TDs, but I was not interested in keeping it original. I thought the original was the prettiest car ever, but I hated the 5.125 diff, the dicey Fuel pump....and I lusted for more power, disc brakes, a longer geared differential, an anti-roll bar, and an all-synchronized transmission. So I found an abandoned project, a TD frame and body. I combined that with an MGB donor car, and now in the process of building a TD with MGB engine and running gear. Still having fun in retirement, but at a much slower pace.

Welcome to the BCF Tom! I've never been to Double Springs, but back when I was doing that thing called work, I used to spend a lot of time in Huntsville. Glad to hear you found your way back to British cars! You've come to the right place so be sure to jump into the MG forum here and say hello!

Hello Tom

Welcome to the forum

I am sure the TD will turn out a great car and you are using MG parts.
Post some photos of your progress.

David
