I am buying some hardwood flooring from a store in Kentucky and need to have it shipped to New Mexico. UPS is ridiculous, and so far the cheapest I've found wants $593, which is more than I'm paying for the wood!

Looking for recommendations for shippers to haul 1 pallet of hardwood flooring (about 550lbs). Any suggestions?

I did have good luck shipping a motorcycle from TN to UT via a small shipper I found on uShip.com. Could be worth a try, though you do have to be careful to do your research.

I got a good price and good service through the guy I found there.

Well, I just went to FreightCenter.com and got a quote for around $272-$300 depending on what the exact weight ends up being. That seems more than reasonable and will amount to about $1.22 per sq ft. But I'm getting a really good price on the wood, so even with the shipping (assuming I really can get that price) then I'm happy.

I'm having three large Bahama shutter doors shipped from Pennsylvania to Louisiana via truck. Don't know who the shipper is but the freight was only $129.00. Try a trucking company.

Yeah, I found a place that will ship it for around $272 - reasonable considering the size and weight.
