Ah that magical first drive

Finally got to drive the 73. Went about 2 miles and the first mile and a half was flawless. Ran well had good oil pressure and temp speedometer works well and I had a big ole smile on my face. This of course changed when I felt a drip on my foot followed by the my foot going to the floor when stopping at a stop sign. Luckily the brakes pumped back up enough to stop but they were totally gone by the time I made it back to the garage. Still I'm ecstatic that it actually moved under it own power for the first time since 1999ish.

Looks like I have 2 leaks to fix. One at the front port of the m/c and another one on the lower left of line junction then more rebleeding.

Still a good day.

I "think" I fixed the brakes and did another spin around the block and I'm now grinning ear to ear and did the happy dance. Now if only I had seat belts and seats I'd take it to class tomarrow.

Ah, I envy you, being able to drive your MG off to classes. I leave mine at home, as keeping it overnight in student parking makes me feel very uneasy. I hope your new MG ends up looking as good as your first.

I say drive it! You don't need seats.

A couple 2x4s and a bit of plywood and you have seats. What's the hold up here?

I broke down and drove it to class then out into the country and had a blast. It was 60 degrees and sunny and it was most likely the last warm sunny day of the year. Put close to 20 miles on it. Ran pretty good but it's running rich on the high end but it still made it up to 65 without complaining and it felt like it had more but I wasn't going to push it. Transmission is going to need some work as the 1st and second gear synchromesh kinda suck but 3rd and 4th are nice. Brakes are now working fantastic and it looks like the leaks are gone knock on wood.

Made a quick seat out of 2" thick blue memory foam with a towel around it for the base and used a brief case with a towel around it for the back. Really worked out well and for the first time I was low enough to see under the rear view mirror.

I'm also starting to think that the engine has been rebuilt at some point in its life. Oil pressure even after running for 30 minutes or so is staying up and 70psi and other than the first day it hasn't been blowing any smoke but it does leak like a sieve.

It's funny but I've run into more people today that have had MG's and found out my mail man has a 74.5 B that just about ready to get back on the road.

Knew you would figure a seat.

As you drive your lbc you will find that almost everybody has had one or had a friend or family member that has had one. It is nearly a universal thing. For those of us who have been lucky enough to have one in their life for a long time, I can only hope one will be yours for a long time to come. You will remember your first seat and enjoy the ribbing. My wife still recalls(its one of those things wifes do) the first week of running over 20 yrs ago took us to a car show 100 miles away. It was awsome.
