I should be getting my 62 3000 frame back from the welder this winter with all the rust cut out and new metal welded in. What next?? Sand/media blast? use grinder? chemical strip dip? and then what? I was thinking metal derust then primer then paint? What have you guys done? Who have you used for blasting, chemical strip? I live in northern Va. just outside Wash D C. Thanks for your experience. Scott

Scott, I also have a 62. I would have it sand or media blasted and you may find that the welder may need to do some more repairs. I would have opted to blast it first and see if there may be some thin areas or bondo hiding anywhere.ive seen some things come back from blasting that wasn't pretty so make sure you have someone knowlegable with vehicle restoration do the blasting. I used sand on my Chassis and Olivine on the steel panels. I used a stripper paint remover on the alunimum Shrouds. just my opinion. Bob

I had my '60Bt7 chemically stripped and e-coated. I was pleased with the results. I used a place in Jackson MS. I still have to strip the shrouds by hand because the stripper would not do aluminum.

Thanks guys for the opinions. Sounds like I have lots to look into.

Hi Scott!!

One thing to SERIOUSLY consider is if the dipper you are contacting can OVEN dry the chassis and then epoxy prime!!

RediStrip WILL "weep" for a couple of years!!!
