AH Chick Magnet??????

Everyone,

In Friday's Wall Street Journal they were talking about how car shows are drawing but interest and popping up all over the tube. The thing that caught my eye was that Speed Channel is doing an awards show for cars. The winning cars will be driven onto a ramp and Carmen Electra will do the routisserie with them. On of the categories is which car is the best chick magnet. The Healey is one of the contenders. This should be interesting. I think they said the show was going to be on in January.

Well I'd have to agree...my 67 BJ8...is just that...I've never had so much action from any car that I have ever owned...

Besides the flaming red color gets them all the time... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Last year I entered a car show..."muscle" cars on both sides of me...the guys checked those cars out first...from front to back...however the women with them were all over my Healey...in fact I'd add that the kids attending the show did the same thing (I think in there case...it's a size thing...the Healey is small like they are)...but I did observe the phenomena first hand...definitly a "chick-magnet"!!!

I'm not so sure I agree.

When I was a teenager, I had an MGA and a little later on
a '57 Healey 100-6. All of my girl friends (yes, sequentially) loved the MGA,
and whenever we went out for a spin, they always wanted
to go out in the MGA, never the Healey. Maybe it was because
I drove the Healy a tad (well, a LOT) more aggressively
than the MGA.

Girl friends and MGA are all gone but the Healey is still here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Nah Steve,I am almost sure it was the magnetic effect created by the the Healey, and the girl friends just did not want to be dissapointed if they lost that ride.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Wrong...I could tell you some stories...but Basil would kick me off this forum...the Healey "always" gets them!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

To the untrained "chick" eye a Healey and MGA would look very similar....they probably wouldn't even know the difference(Iam sure there is a few exceptins though). At the local cruise night here our LBC's get alotta attention...I think it is a size thing with the kids too....to bad they have to put their hands all over it.

Years ago I ended up marrying the chick I found with my Sprite.
Today when the young girls all "ask for a ride" I tell them to go get their mother /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
And as for kids and car shows, stick a little kid in the drivers seat of a little car and you have made his day.
Our car club had signs at one time that read "Please Touch
Do Not take" It was a much more appealing than the more common "Please Look, Do not Touch" signs everybody else had.

Well I used to be a chick-now I'm an OLD LADY-but the sparkle my mga puts in the eye of women of all ages is unmistakeable!! I tell them it's a ladies car & when doing the American grafitti thing on Sunset Blvd (in my misspent youth) I let a good looking guy in an XKE catch me & talk me into pulling over......I was never a Stupid Woman!!!!! I find the Healy's quite beautiful & would kiss Santa for an early Cobra or Corvette!!!!LOL Randi /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Hi Randi!

I just had to respond to you; as someone that spent quite a number of years driving through Abbeville enroute to Intra Coastal. Okay, I even did service work at the pogey plant too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I drove my Healey and several different MGBs & MGBGTs from Lafayette (at first) before I moved out to Breaux Bridge.

Now I'm digging myself out from under a foot of snow and wishing I was going to a crawfish boil next weekend (though I did have a bowl of shrimp & crabmeat gumbo last night after yet more snow shoveling).

Take care, and stop by here more often.

I've never been with a girl who care what I drive.
Stereotype: Guys like cars, gals like horses.
Would you guys go for a girl just because she's on top of an Arabian?
Would you diss a girl because she's on a pony?
Would you care, or know the difference?
Assuming you couldn't care less about horses, would you even notice the horse?
Works both ways, I reckon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( "Gals on top of Arabians" comments highly discouraged. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif)

I agree with you but I do think there is something to be said for this ā€˜chick magnet’ thing. I know a mechanic who drives a lot of different types of cars and has seen the reactions of different people to them. He says when he drives a Ferrari people will check out the car but not approach him. When he drives a British car people will check out the car and ask him all sorts of questions. He’s approachable in a LBC. It’s a conversation piece, an ice breaker.

My own experience- I was in my Healey, waiting to pull away from the curb, in front of a crowded little seafood place. Two women in a late model drop-top pulled up and asked if I was leaving. I said ā€œSure, ya wanna come?ā€ (Hey, I’m single) One of them replied ā€œIn that car? Sure!ā€ I laughed and left. Now don’t get me wrong, I know it’s silly and just flirting but the car is at least an ice breaker.
And I can’t wait to get my rebuilt motor back!
