Well I've been playing around with this for a while now, now have the dimensions and thickness sorted as well as the text, however the text is electronically printed not embossed, I hope to be able to get the right number stamps and stamp the relevant number sequences onto the blank card, fixing holes to be drilled yet

Rich Chrysler did a lot of work on these years ago and probably knows the font. I can dig his e-mail address out if you want it

I'm remaking one as close as possible, the card size is correct and the thickness is as close as I can ascertain, the same applies to the text I have placed on the card, all of which agree with an original Austin A70 plastic plate that I have, (I have looked at a few scans of various AH BN plastic VIN plates from various sources, and there seems to be some variation of how the blanks were printed/pressed) all of the text however has been placed as a photographic image on the one I am working on.
What this means is that the original text had a texture to it that is not on the card I am working on.
Where the car/engine numbers were stamped onto the blank VIN's at the factory as they were assembled is where I'm hoping to get the right size stamp and font to be able to at least emulate this part correctly, its either that or play with my image and add these numbers to the image also
So to answer your question, yes I could run a few off without the numbers, or more time consuming would be to modify the image each time, which is why I'm trying to obtain a set of the correct number stamps

Thanks for that, I already had that and another one from somewhere else, interesting is that John Wheatley's car number fits beween these two with his motor outside these two, and while the two that bracket Johns plate seem identical in print and identation Johns appears slightly different, looks like there may have been two plates, one for domestic and the ones with the L being for overseas delivery
