AH BJ8 Radiator Replacement

Recently I bought a “new” radiator from Victoria British for my 1967 BJ8. Comparing it to the original, it is both wider and thicker. Victoria British assured us that they have shipped the correct unit. If this unit would be installed, it would require changing the brackets (that are part of the frame) and also moving the radiator forward, so that it would not be so close to the fan.

Has anyone been able to buy a radiator from any supplier that just “drops in” without further modifications of the brackets?

Thanks for your ideas and experience,

Hi Cliff, I do not kow how you can get a radiator in the healey that is wider than the original safely since the top brackets can not be moved. I suggest you send it back to VB and have your original one recored. There is a discussion on the form here as to a source and the benefits gained.---Fwiw---Keoke

I vote for option #3 also. I bought a re-cored radiator from British Car Specialists. They ship the re-core and you use their box to mail your old one back to them.
