AH 3000 window question

Hi,
Though I am a TR fan/owner, a friend has an upholstery shop. He's putting a new top on a 3000, and noticed that the side windows don't work well. Does the glass moved within the chrome piece in the regulator, or does the glass attach to the chrome piece, then that entire unit moves up-down? If it does, how is the glass retained in the chrome slot?

Thanks, Don

Hi,
Though I am a TR fan/owner;Then you be in the wrong place- Just Kidding--Keoke

The side windows don't work well. Common problem Don.

Does the glass moved within the chrome piece in the regulator,---------NO

does the glass attach to the chrome piece-
Yes
then that entire unit moves up-down?--Yes

If it does, how is the glass retained in the chrome slot?-

There is a packing strip installed in the channel which wedges the glass tightly in the channel.
Additionally there are small plastic guides fitted in the guide channels which act as bearings and insure the glass runs smoothly in these channels as it is raised and lowered.

Then you'd be in the wrong place...ah Keoke, keeping it real...LOL

Don, Keoke points out the major areas to look into.
Let me add to the channel situation. If the glass channel is not constant in width, the plastic guides will bind up. Also if the glass channel does not have the proper curve to follow the curve of the glass, it will hang up in those area too. Note there are two glass channels. Don't forget to pay attention to the condition and alignment of the one near the door handle.
Good luck,
Roger
