can anyone tell me what a 100-4 year maybe 56-57 thats been in a garage for 10 years sitting be worth, little rust, all parts on the car, interior shot no windscreen?

Not much in my opinion unless it has a special history. It will cost as much to restore as buying a good one outright. You say "little rust". Does that mean surface rust or body panels needing replacement? As always check the frame very carefully.

That having been said I have seen these on eBay that are a total disaster going for WAY too much.

I think they want 3000.00 not sure its a good deal or not. I have not seen the car yet they are sending me pics, I was told it has a alumimum body, my understanding that was suppose to be a 100S, that makes is more interesting to find out

100/4 only went up to 56, so it's not 56-57

If it's a 100S give them 3000 (ÂŁ $ anything else), get it on a trailer, get it locked up safely ready for auctioning at a vast profit. (I think it is VERY unlikely that it is, only 100 were made and I think they are all accounted for) It could be a 100M, but there were factory 100M and aftermarket ones, so you need to know which in order to decide on a price.
The bodies are (at least partly) ali, but the thing to worry about is the chassis and underframe which you can't see, and rust like heck!
3000 sounds like a price for a car that needs a complete rebuild, not for something you're going to polish, change the oil and plugs and drive.

Yep Bruce ,did you happen to see that rotten BJ8 that recently was bid to almost $10,000.00 ?.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Maybe it's a 100S
ix (100/6) ;-)

hondo, from what ive read there are two or three 100s's unaccounted for should this be one it would be a rare find indeed! did the owner tell you the entire body was aluminum? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

If I am correct, the original four pre-production prototype Healey Hundreds built in 1952 had aluminum bodies - AHX1, AHX2,AHX3 and AHX4, with AHX4 still missing. In addition, a number of the early Longbridge-built cars had alloy body parts. This has the potential to be a real find! How about posting some pictures.

As I recall there were only 55 100S's made. I would HIGHLY doubt it is an S.

Also depending on how a car gets registered a 100-4 could be registered as a 1957 even though technically it would be a 1956.

Lets us know when you get pictures.

I would be positive it is not a 100-S but its been in a garage for 20 years, so who knows, the chances are like hitting the lottery, I will post pics once I get them

Well aside from the usual places to I.D it, ie the eng/chassis no.,inside of the cockpit trim, the boot strut mounting bracket and from memory a few other places I.D number was stamped, the experts will have to i.d those!

Hondo, If you would like to find out what the car is worth you may want to call Von's Austin Healey( located just outside of Charlotte in Pineville.) He has recently closed down his shop but probably still dabbles with Healeys. You can find his number on the web, if not his last names Patterson. Bob G

final note, the car was a 100-6, no pics as the car sold last sat for 5500.00 and was swept away on a flat bed
