AGM [Optima-type] battery in chrome bumper B

Here's probably more info on batteries then you'd ever want to know, but if you scroll down to the AGM section, they give you all the pros and cons.

I think Advanced Auto sells them now. Reg. and Deep cycle. Pricy though. PJ

While on the topic of batteries, is there a cheap alternative to the ludicrously expensive battery boxes sold at Moss and elsewhere? Am I missing something about the plastic used: is it special in some way, making it super expensive?

I love my optima yellowtop. Never have had a problem with starting even with temps sub -40 and it handels heavy winching with the light on without breaking a sweat. Great battery.

you have a winch on your B?!??!? That brings new meaning to "MG Wrecker Service" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I know you meant your truck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Ah. I figured he was a Boy Scout in an earlier life. You know: Be prepared. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Sure would solve the question of towing points with that gorgeous front-end.

if you try to rapid charge it with a 40amp charger, you'll destroy it.

Does that mean you can't jump it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

A quick jump shouldn't hurt it. But it won't take a 20amp fast charge. You need about an amp for lots of hours (24 or so).
