Aftermarket Fuse Box [58' Bugeye] Recs??

I am in the process of a total rebuild, and would love to take this opportunity to add a real fuse box, complete with modern fuses and a relay switch area to replace the ahem, "fuse box" that originally came with the car. I have already purchased a brand new harness...

I rewired my 59 with the same idea in mind (did it about15 years ago!). I had an old Fiat 124 just rusting away so I used it as a donor for a few things, one of which was the fuse box assembly. Worked out really well, offering up to a dozen fusable circuits. I mounted it on the passenger-side footwell on the shut-plate that a RHD cars hydraulics would go into. I will take a pic & post if interested!

I did the same to my 64 sprite. My fuse box was in the same location as the original (back passenger side) and the 2 relays (fuel & lights) onto the firewall.

I did a quick job and it looks rotten, but works great. If I were to do it all over again; I'd be a little cleaner.

Also - removed the volt regulator due to the fact that I upgraded from a generator to an alternator.

Thanks for the replies. To answer Radford's question, I plan to mount the box where the voltage regulator used to sit (converted to alt). I would like to have a new box with several fuse and relay options built in. Thanks again all.

I did a deal like Bugimike. I used the "Painless" 8 circut race car kit and mounted it in the passenger foot well also. To keep it dry. Did the alternator conversion too. Very happy with the results. One of the best mods you can do. Along with a high torque starter and neg ground conversion.
