After Market Seats for a 74 Midget

Does anyone know of a source for aftermarket seats that will fit my 74 midget? I am trying to stay within a budget and everything I have found is too large.

Why not orginals, shucks folks have em stuck away in some cases. Ask.

I have the original seats but they are in bad shape. By the the time I buy the foam, the vinyl and all the fixings I will be in for big bucks. Not to mention I have never done seats before and I am not sure how easy it is. I would like to think I could buy some new seats and bolt them in.

You can make the base foam with stuff from the ladies sewing store/outlet.

Moss kits for example come with all the rest of the fillers etc.

Miata Seats fit. I've found them to be in the $150 to $200 range used. 2000+ Seats are thinner. Cloth inserts keep you cool in the summer and headrests can be fitted with speakers. Problem with other aftermarket buckets is that they are too wide.

Can someone please repost the Search the Junkyards Link. I had that link and managed to forget where I saved it. You can input your zip code, Make and Model, and desired item, yes there isa category for seats, and the link will search all junkyards or should I say recycling centers by distance from you. I looked in OH and found Miata Seats at several junkyards < 1 hour away.

Corbeau makes a Classic II seat in fabric or vinyl that isn't too terribly priced ($250.00 ea. I think?)I think somebody else (black SWA spridget I think?) on here is running them and they look very nice.

The web site, car-part.com is a good site to look for Miata seats. I did a quick check for 1994 to 1998 seats and got several pages of listings. Good luck.

Why not check with your local auto upholstry shop.
I get seats recovered for $125 each, he fixes up what ever needs fixin too like foam, and he paints the frames black.

Search this link for Miata Seats in your local automotive recycling yard.

I found more than 20 sets within a hour - 2 hours drive. One place had 6 sets to choose from. Going rate $200 a set looks like.
