Advice on New Top

It's about time to buy a new convertible top. I don't know which one to go with. On VickyBrit, there are 3 options. One has no brand-name, one is Robbins, the other is Tickford. Can anyone recommend one of these? Does price matter? I don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars on something that's going to tear up the following year.

Robbins tops have my vote. Been around for years. Used to be able to talk with either father or son back-when... things have changed. They make a good product.

I put a tan one on the Alfa a few (4) years ago and the rear window is still clear and pliable. This car is in Florida sun as a daily driver year-round. It says a lot about the materials Robbins uses. Cost/benefit ratio is great, IMO.

I've Robbins on the Elan as well. The MG will get one shortly. They're one of the few who make 'em to fit properly.

You might also want to check into EZ-On (I think that's the name). Got great support from the company on installation details and the thing fit like a glove.

Quick tip - get your shop and the top as warm as you can for installation, I mean even hot if you can get it. Once it cools down the top will shrink onto the frame like a drumhead. Good luck.

I emailed Robbins awhile back about a top and they have ignored me...maybe my wife runs the place, I don't know.

You'll have to decide on what matreial you want as well as the supplier...and a "couple hundred bucks" won't buy much these days.

I purchased a Robbins top from TRF the cloth type and it fit well but I did have a shop install it. only had it up one time and I dont drive in the rain, still dont know why I bought a new one

If you look at the 6pack site under autojumble someone is selling a new Robbins top for $150 plus shipping. Check it out. There is also a top listed on ebay from Acme tops at $99 as of right now.
