GT6 Advice on a 1969 Triumph GT6

[ QUOTE ]
but i'm in ohio...i doubt you'd wanna go there./quote]

Todd, Where in Ohio? Born and raised there myself... T-Town. Anyway, migrated to Las Vegas 12 years ago. Couldn't take the cold anymore. Like I say now, "Ohio, a **** good place to be from!"

Have a couple more pictures of the car for those that may be interested. Going to try to pic her up on Sunday and give her a new home. I was pricing the rear axles for the car... almost fell over at how expensive they are new. Anyone have any suggestions on where to locate good used axles?

John-

For parts, hop on to the ebay bus as it will soon be your friend. Lots of new and used parts, some bargains, some ripoffs. I sent you a pm on a potential source for your bonnet.

Good luck!
Randy

Update... Well, we managed to get our little friend home without any damage. It took a bit using a floor jack and boards to get it up onto the flat bed tow truck. But, she's happy and safe.

Some good news, some bad. I found the rear end parts from the rotoflex coupling outward inside the car. The inner axles, drive couplings and the drive flanges are gone.

Found the carbs inside also, although they are Stromberg CD's (I think 150's).

The interior is worse then I thought, not much can be saved, but all gauges are there.

The body is in really good shape. No rust (other than some minor surface rust) is in the car. All glass is in tact, other than the windshield which is cracked.

The bonnet being advertised on e-bay looks great and would work. But, they want $2,200.00 to ship it from Mobile, AL, to Las Vegas. I about fell over when I was told that. For me to drive round trip to pick it up would be about 800 bucks in gas alone. (anyone driving to Las Vegas soon for a vacation? LOL)... But, I did find a place (www.triumphsonly.com) that has 7 bonnets in Stockton, CA. Only about 7.5 hours from me. They said between $400 and $1200 depending on condition. Of course, this is only the sheet metal, no bumper, chrome, nothing.

Checked the motor... after 7 years of sitting (with no carbs), it still turns free... YEA... that was a good sign. Still going to need a tranny... Does anyone know if there is anyway to convert to a Mazda RX8 6 speed? I can get one of these for free from a friend here in town.

This does look like it's going to be a long, long, long, project... Wish I could find a donor car somewhere, or maybe one more complete for this to be a donor too....

congrats on getting it home...i would say it's half the battle, but i'm pretty sure you know you've only just begun!

btw, i'm in cincy, oh. t-town...toledo?

you may want to check into gtx shipping(greyhound). i don't know if that will fit on one of their busses, but they're way cheaper than most to ship big stuff.

the cd150s are correct for the gt6. 175s for tr6. if you're clever you can adapt a plate to the gt6 intake for the tr6 carbs. my gt6(mkI) has a MKIII head on it with a MKIII intake as well...then TR6 carbs adapted to it. you can also buy the goodparts triple ZS intake, but i guess that's a long way off at this point??

good luck,

todd

Shoot, I'm selling a 1973 Triumph GT6 in pretty good shape that runs, drives, and has fresh carpet inside. Check the for sale section. I'm asking $3k, and it's in Michigan.

The car has been fun, but I have moved to a Vette(don't flame me, I can guarantee that I'll buy another GT6 later in life).
