Ayup, in big dollar roundy-round racing we had seriously oversquare V-8s for the super-speedways.

And strokers for the bullrings and road racing.

Each 358Cid... Max HP on the stroker was around 6500RPM, and the screamer was like 8800RPM...

Ironically both made about 850HP...

But that's writing the Cornett's a $30K check every 2-3 races to keep it alive...

And then there were the 10K RPM V-6s with the pushrods that went throught the intake instead of the head because the rocker arms were so long...

Aw, shucks I'm off on another tangent again....

At least one other person has recommended rebuilding the entire motor and not just the top end if you want your engine to last. Like Paul said it is a system and I would have to agree with that. I also recommend replacing things like the oil pump, water pump, and timing chain and gears.

When you figure out pretty much what you would like to do, find one or more people that have done similar to one of these TR6 engines with success and ask questions, a lot of them.
