Acme Speed Shop VTO Wheel Black Friday Sale

Guys, I too think this has taken way too long, we need to go to plan B. The deal is they, VTO ran out of 3/8" lug nuts, and went back to their supplier who was also out of them, 3/8" lub nuts are somewhat rare, the major supplier was also out and put a order in for a production run of these, but I agree this has taken way longer than any of us were led to believe, and Tammy is at the mercy of thier supplier, but it's time to work around this, I will give this my attention this week and we'll find a alternate source. I'm a wee bit more resourceful than most, so I'm sure I will come up with something, I still have alot of connections in the wholesale tire and wheel industry. Give me until the end of the week, this week is mantainence infusion week for me, so lots of healthcare things to deal with this week, but I'll be done with that by Weds., and get on this.

Hap,

Thanks for stepping up. I really tried to avoid bringing you into this dispute with VTO because it has nothing to do with your end of the deal.

Several years ago, I was looking for some mag lugs that required a shoulder as opposed to just a tapered nut. There was a fellow, I seem to recall from Ohio, on eBay who had all styles of lugnuts. I think his eBay name was Zenbutcher.
I also found this:

https://www.mgexperience.net/archive/wtb_lug_nuts_for_mag_wheels_sprite_midget/986457

Seems as though there is a resolution. Just a shame that VTO will not put forth the effort of even something as simple as a google search for "3/8 24 lugnut shoulder".

Maybe your VTO wheels are different, but mine have tapered inserts.

No they are typical 60 degree taper lug nuts, it just that 3/8" lugnuts are rare, and yes I suggested that Tammy find a alternate source, sure there are people selling them on Ebay, at like a 200-400% mark up. I left this for her to take care of, because it's her job, but I will now find her enough lugnuts to get the job done for these customers waiting and some spares to handle future 3/8" applications, until the replacments. I've been in these industry longer than any of the folks I deal with, so I'll use some of those past connections to find a solution, For the record, I don't blame Tammy, or VTO for any of this, she's great worker and works here tail off, doing the job of 2 or 3 people, she is relying on the source she knows, which alomost all the time would be able to fullfill this order, but it is time to think outside the box and I will assist her in that to get this taken care of.

It should also be noted, VTO is one of the few wheels companies that provides you with lug nuts free of charge with a wheel purchase, the others, including Moss, do not. Yes, not a excuse for those that didn't get lug nuts yet, but noteworthy just the same.

Trevor, you might want to check out, my latest post on the Tunebug head thread.

I just talked to the owner of VTO, Barry, actually he called me about ETA of his new race engine, and I covered the whole lug nut thing with him. he said what make the lugnuts he uses unique is the actual socket head size is smaller than most, to give one more room to get lug nuts on and off with typical sockets and with some wheel like the Classic 8, they are countersank a good bit, so a small head is nice feature, kinda reminds me of David Letterman joke, everyone likes little head  All jokes aside he is on it and will check with his normal source and also other sources as well. He also made mention that some may not know, but you can run whatever lugs nut you had on the car before in the meantime as the stock Rostyle lugs are 60 taper as well, but he is working on this and hopes to resolve it real soon.

I tried to use the non shouldered "MG" chrome lug nuts that VB sells on my new rims (non VTO) and they started to dig into the rim. Granted, we're not comparing apples to apples; however mine rotted none the less. I'm just saying this just in case no one has actually tried the factory style non shouldered ones on VTO's before and are just going off of the specs.

I don't have VTO's so I can't say for sure. The cheapy ebaylites need shouldered nuts.

I am by no means questioning anyone, just saying what happened to me in a semi-related case.

I will be happy to try a set for a few hundred thousand miles if somoene cares to send me a trial set. :jester:

Ok, who says forums don't get things done . Barry and Tammy at VTO are sending everyone who has ordered Spridget wheels and not got their 3/8' lug nut, 3/8"-24 tuner lug nuts, they are actually a upgraded lug nut, that work as anti theft device as well, they 60 degree tapered, same as the regular chrome accorn lug nuts, and use special allen head adapter to install, and remove them, the tool will be included, Barry loves these things and uses them on all his cars, as they have no possible way the tool can contact the wheel during install and remove. all we could find today in stadard lug nuts was in 3/8" was the one that go on Polaris ATVs and they have a 14mm hex head, and Barry felt uncomfortable sending them to you all not knowing much about the, 14mm sounds like aweful small head. So they will sent out starting Friday to all of you that have been waiting. For some reason, if you rather have the standard 3/8" chrome accorn lug nuts, call VTO at 866-855-3773 and you can still get the standard chrome accorn nut when they do come in, of course free of charge.

Here's a photo of the tuner style lugnuts, that you will be getting

As the one who started this saga, let me be the first to say kudos to Hap for making this HAPpen! Then again, I guess I should not be surprised given Hap's reputation as a stand up guy. Time to get the Dunlop's mounted....

Yup you heard it here first - if you ordered VTO wheels, "nuts to you!" :jester:

Hey, also a big thank you to Barry at VTO for coming up with a solution, one that cost him extra money to carry out. This was just one of those things, we all deal with in life and business, we're busy doing a kazillion things and something does not go as planned and we forget to follow up on it, or make alternate plans, until we are reminded, so thank you folks for reminding us. You folks are our customers and without you, there is no business, so your satisfaction is extremely important to us. Thank you again for your business, and support
