Accelerator Pedal

Just curious - is there only one accelerator pedal for the spridgets, the hinged pedal? I ask because I have never had a pedal on the car. The PO had a small pedal in a box, but it doesn't seem to fit well - it can spin around and snag up.

I'd like to order one, but I am not sure of what I would need then. Looks like there's a small connecting rod to go between the linkage and the pedal. Does the pedal just screw into the floor? Anyone have a pic? I looked around online, couldn't find a pic.

Thanks!

A '68 would have a pedal the is bolted to the floor with two 1/4" (I think) screws that go into nuts that are welded to the underside of the floor pan. And there is also a small linkage rod.

Ah, I believe the PO opted to axe this then, as I don't remember any holes in the floor - I believe the floor pans were repaired with sheet metal at some point. Looks like for now I'll drill 2 holes and just use a nylon locknut underneath the car.

Take at look at 6 and 8.

trevor's got it right, but if the floor was repaired then the mounts might not be there. the linkage arm is something you find occasionally on ebay. the small linkage between the pedal and rod is critical and should be attached to the rod you have or purchased. i recently bought one off ebay with the small linkage attached. newer midgets have a pedal pad mounted directly to the rod linkage.

Would you beleive #7 in the pic is actually up side down. At least on Miss Agatha the choke cable will not fit properly unless it is turned over.

Number 8 is available for 10 bucks from Moss.

I drove my 74 for years with out one
Snoopy ripped out of the floor driving up south beach
I had to pull the pedal off it was a very uncontrollably.
the new one bolted in with little trouble, a good Saterday morning job!

Thanks guys, that's the drawing I saw that got me questioning it all. I'll be ordering the pedal and linkage tonight.
