TR2/3/3A Accelerator Pedal Advice Needed

Is the engine in the car? Is so, I would install a stock system in two pieces. I would put a split pin into the shaft on the carburetor side of linkage with a clamp after you have fished the gas pedal half through the hole and around the back of the engine.

If the engine is out, just push the whole unit in through gas pedal the hole in the firewall from the engine bay.

FWIW, I found that, with the early linkage like mine (and apparently Dorn's), it was possible to R&R the linkage with the engine in place. Not particularly easy, but possible. However I did make up a special tool, about 12" of 1/2" rod from the junk bin with 1/2" or so turned down to 1/8" (making effectively a very long pin punch), plus a tiny point at the tip to fit into the hole in the end of the split pin (to help keep it lined up while starting). I also ground just a very small extra taper on the end of the pins, to help them get started in the holes. They come with about a 90 degree taper, I ground off the corner to form an extra (roughly) 60 degree section between the original taper and the shank.
