Has someoone installed an AC Ace kit on their MGB body? Any comments?
 
I haven't installed one but saw a completed car this year in Carthage, MO at their show. Interesting car, not my taste but still looked pretty good and pretty well finished conversion.

Only thing I've seen on those kits is that if you put it on late model suspension, it looks to high...ya gotta lower it to make it look right....just goggle "AC Ace kit".

I think they need 15" wheels to fill up the wheel wells better as well, the 14's look sort of small compared to the sides of the body.
 
Guess I've seen too many real AC's as that just not look right at all. The wheel opeings are way to small and the windscreen surround is far too chunky. But based on a B, I guess there is only so much you can do.
 
That car on the website definately needs 15 or 16 inch wheels and lowered. I wanted to do one of these back in 1996 when I first found out about the kit. I like the looks more than the B body. Since its next to impossible for anyone to ever own a real Ace, this is about close as it will get. There are too many AC Cobra clones now, but I would build one of these. The windshield and shape of trunk is definately yells MGB, but blending it to the Ace body is done well.
 
Here in the UK Hawk used to make conversion kits, but they now seem devoted to Cobra replicas instead. Their kits seem a lot more faithful to the original appearance and were based on a mix of MGB suspension components and Triumph 6 engine. Googling Hawk Ace replica will probably turn up a few.
 
Unfortunately, those kits look about as pathetic as the guys that stick Countach kits on Fieros.

There are very few body kits that look anywhere close to good (I can only think of about two).
