i pulled this from my other post... just in case it got overlooked:

"...all i'm doing is switching the gas and clutch pedals around so that i clutch with my right foot and use my left for gas and brake. from what i gather, it shouldn't be too tough.

that said, if anyone wants to weigh in on strategies for getting this done properly or things to watch out for, please do! i'll forward them along to my mechanic."

any thoughts?

thanks.

My cousin had a clamp device to move the gas tver to the other side of the clutch. One could still drive with the right foot on the gas. His car had a wider foot well. I'll give him a call and find out some more info if you'd like. He lives in Southern California and it was done 15 years ago.

Back in the days B4 cruise control, J C Whitney (among others) used to sell a clamp-on "Left Foot Accelerator".

My dad was a travelling salesman and also used one.

i have a left foot accelerator that i use in my regualr car.. which is automatic transmission. but i can't quite see how it would work with a manual transmission car... is that how your father drove?

No.... He started using it in a '52 Chevy w/Powerglide, then moved it to a '55, then a '57. We installed an after market cruise control in his next car.

From Kansas City, MO. he traveled KS, NB, CO, WY, MT, ND, SD.

LOTS of long, flat, open highway. He never had a radio either ! I don't know how he did it !

He was a "Stronger" man than I am !
