For reasons beyond my control, need to tow my BE about 5 miles to "last resort" British car mechanic (by now he's a friend). I have a 50 ft. tow strap and a bumper hitch on SUV.

So, what is the best way to hook up to BE without damaging her. Yes it has brakes and even steering too.

Thanks for saving me some $ guys.

Bill M. has a collapsible tow bar set up thingy. At least in the State of Washington it is no longer legal to tow with a rope or strap. It has to be a SOLID connection. Not that it isn't still done. He will gladly take pics or give plans. Very simple dealie-o.

for 5 miles call a tow truck with a flatbed - don't be penny wise and pound foolish.

Run a chain through a 10' section of pipe or box tubing, use a shackle to connect the chain to each vehicle. It passes as a solid connection because the pipe is the "tow bar" and the chain is the swivels. At least it will make the cop think a minute.

:iagree:

YAY Chris!! That's sooo much safer than a strap, too. Used it many times in the "old days" when one of my or my friends' LBC's needed fetching.

Hey guys, My son and I did it. The 1st stop light was the lernint experiene. Too much lank, yankded my back, but the biggest strain was on th CRV,n not the BE As a towee, my lessons were, watch the tow caple, ride the brake and be loose because things happen over 5 miles.

we made it though and it bordered on adventure;

good times..............thanks

:lol: :lol: That video is a classic!! Right down to the typical British understatements... "He's burning a bit rich!...Oy, oy! looket that then!" :thumbsup: :jester:
