Was driving west on the 401 yesterday when a car transport passed going the other direction full of new Dodge 300s - top front car (over the drivers cab) had been driven on the trailer backwards - truck driving at least 60 MPH and the trunk on the Dodge had popped open - oops.

Lot's of stories of hoods popping open at speed - not so many the trunk - at least not with such consequences.
 
Wow. Wished that had been caught on video. Bet they'll check the load better next time.
 
Years ago,we came around a sharp corner on Highway 101,
just North of Highway 1,when we saw a some new vehicles on their sides,
some back-to-back,on the shoulder of the highway.
As we exited the curve,there was an almost empty car transporter,
with the company name on the cab of the truck,that said "Insured" in the name.
It did get our attention!
 
Hood and trunk latches are fickle. Back when F-85's flew in Korea they had air brakes to give 'em that bit of aerodynamic advantage... now we see panels causing chaos! Oops!

when I was in my early teens a train derailed at the end of the street. There were at least two cars filled with Camaros - all were damaged and some had rail skewering the cars - my recollection is that they just buried them. Back then (at least) cars on trains were insured for $100 each - just enough to cover stone chips and small cosmetic stuff.
