I just ordered a reworked 25D4 from Jeff Schlemmer for the 72. I hope he doesn't get upset with me for saying so but, I found out that he's donating the money for this to a friend who has been diagnosed with cancer. How cool is that! To me, that's a SUPER guy! PJ

Paul - I thought you'd like working w/Jeff!

I got my MGC distributors from Jeff.

Ordered on Friday...received on Monday.

I have two 25D from him sitting here. Actually they've been sitting here for months because I keep forgetting to put the one in, and the engine for the other is still apart.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thankyousign.gif For letting us know about people like Jeff who go the extra mile. Kudos to Jeff!

I just installed Pertronix and if i'da known I prolly woulda picked one up.

I keep a spare in the boot for road trips.

I was told I should do that. Safe Insurance in case something goes wrong with the electronics.

Yep....easier and quicker to swap out a dizzy on the side of the road than fiddle with points, etc....plus...when an electronic unit fails...there ain't no points to play with!

Rick, my 84 CJ-7 Jeep came with electronic ignition. After letting us down a couple of times out west, once 70 miles from the nearest service area, I installed an earlier distributor with points. We never had an ignition problem again.
On a second note, Jeff told me that in most cases, the points distributor performs better that the electronic conversion on MGBs. They just require a little more maintenance.

That's what I'm referring to! I use a points distributor in all four MGs...and carry a spare points dizzy in three out of four (the V8 isn't on the road yet)

I lost my electronic dizzy on the MGB once...that resulted in the switch to a points distributor....I had to fiddle with the points on the MGB in the middle of the night once...and the same with the red MGC once...since then, I've always carried a complete dizzy ready to go into service.

I have points in 5 of 6 MGs. The only problems I've ever had were with faulty condensers but that issue seems to have gone away, thankfully. The 5th car has EI installed by the builder and considering the state of engine tune, I'm afraid to remove it.
