A stupid part

Ok I got a new window washer pump and knob from VB, nice item Made in England even. However, here it comes, it did not include the can part that fits into the dash. Can makes a chrome ring on the dash and the pump part fits in the other end and allows the pump knob to depress into the can space to actually work the pump. Everyone confused now? It is actually kind of shaped like the outer part of a cig lighter.

I need one of these cans, any ideas? Anyone have an old one that is gathering dust. Would expect this part not to be used on a race car, hehe. Is specific to the mark I and II spridgets I think. No pic in Moss or VB guess they are not supose to wear out, sigh. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The MGB version uses a spacer/collar on the "neck" and a chrome bezel threaded to it from the outside. Could you "adapt" one of those?

Where could I find a pic Doc. But if I was a betting man would bet not. Always willing to try most anything though.

I've a non-working one here someplace. If I can find it i'll snap a photo. May be a while tho as we're s'posed to be goin' to a BBQ event this afternoon sometime.

Golly only knows Doc, time is not of the essence. I'm just trying to get all my ducks to walk in a straight line.

A few are problems, hehe.

mehheh. Well, "she" just went out on a "mission" so mebbe....

The "collar" is a piece of plastic! I went out and pulled the one from the car /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Noop, that's not the trick. where yours has a plunger, black push button mine has a rod with a knob on the end and the pump then sets way back behind the dash, maybe 1 1/2 inchs. sigh. Will keep looking, maybe I will get lucky.

'k. Figger'd that'd be too easy anyhoo.

I have one of those sitting here with all the (well most of) the parts ya have on the list....I think. I will send them when I am satisfied that I have all the stuff I can get for ya. Relax the pile is growing.

heheheee. I think Jack's gettin' antsy now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thank you Jolly. Relax, relax. Note to self: RELAX.

Thanks guys.

Oh yea, Jolly I got a spedo. canx that pls.

Jack--quick question about your new pump. Does it have 2 or 3 little outlets at the back of the pump for the lines (1 in, 2 out)? My original one has 3, and one I saved from the pile of Triumph parts I had has just 2. I'm curious to see how the replacement pump is set up.

Has two which as I remember, one in and one out, is correct. Is a T plastic fitting in the hose that goes to the sprayers. Working from memory here.

Moss cat shows three, maybe they came both ways??

That's entirely possible. May also be that they only reproduce the 2 fitting version now. Thanks.

Drew, I should have said that I had seen them in both configurations. Lord only knows which of them were original. I'll try to go check today and see what's on each of the three I've got in storage.
Jeff

I'd guess that they might have both been original. I know they tended to use parts on hand, it's quite possible that either showed up, depending on what was in the bin at the time.
