Amazing that the whole place was built in just over a year.

On opening day, unfortunately during a week-long 110 degree heat wave, the soft asphalt was trapping women's high heel shoes, most of the water fountains didn't work, and most of the first day visitors used counterfeit tickets.

Note the orchard in the background. 1955 - Times were a-changin'.

And for you young folks ... it's DISNEYLAND!

what a great picture! thanks

I bought an Aurora plastic White tanker truck model
years ago.Inside, there was an entry form to "Win a trip to -
the NEW Disneyland!"."Expires December 31,1955".I still have it.
I also have some old color slides taken when Disneyland
was new - the original Autopia cars, etc.
My Wife wants us to take our Granddaughter there this Sept-
ember.I could care less to go back to LA again, but it's about her-
not us.

What timing. Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom (in Disney World) are opening tomorrow at 5am and staying open until 5am the next day for "leap day". I'll probably be there for some of the daytime activities but that's it. I've already done the Magic Kingdom at 2am, another couple of hours won't make that much difference

I'm envious, have fun!!

Oh I plan to. Come to think of it though, I've spent more than 24 hours there this year already. I've managed to get down there six times so far this year; lots of snapshots

Scott those are probably the nicest pictures I have ever seen - including a ton O books! Thanks for sharing.

I particularly appreciate that you make me see something I have seen 100 times in a new and different way.
